Dark-ego-vehicle principle: Narcissism as a predictor of anti-sexual assault activism

Abstract In this preregistered study, we tested the dark-ego-vehicle principle . This states that individuals with dark personalities, such as high narcissistic traits, are inclined to become involved in certain kinds of ideologies and political activism. We argue can be attracted anti-sexual assault activism because form may provide them opportunities obtain positive self-presentation (e.g., virtue signaling), gain status, dominate others, engage social conflicts get their thrills. A diverse US sample ( N = 313) completed online measures traits involvement addition, relevant covariates were assessed (i.e., age, gender, adult sexual history, harassment myth acceptance, altruism), interaction between gender was considered. The results multiple regression analysis showed higher predicted an individual’s over above covariates. However, relationship evident only for women sample. Notably, a level altruism individual also substantially associated discuss how narcissism-by-gender line principle.
